SUN Expanding Behavioral Health Services in Columbus, OH

SUN Behavioral Health announces the acquisition of property at 900 East Dublin Granville Road, which will be the home of a new 110,000 square foot inpatient psychiatric hospital with services spanning from assessment and case management to inpatient through hospital-based outpatient services for patients of all ages.

The facility is expected to open in the summer of 2016 and will create over 200 direct full-time jobs, as well as construction jobs during the renovation phase of the project. With four distinct floors for inpatient units, SUN will offer several unique specialty programs to treat the needs of the Columbus community. Assessment and outpatient programs will also be offered as SUN responds to the community’s needs to fill gaps in the continuum of care.

SUN Behavioral Health is a company formed with the mission to solve unmet needs of behavioral health patients in communities across the country. This is SUN’s second project in the region. A new 197-bed hospital is currently planned in partnership with St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Northern Kentucky/Greater Cincinnati.

“We are excited to serve the Columbus community,” said Steve Page, SUN’s President and CEO. “The new hospital is expected to relieve some of the strain on emergency departments in Columbus as behavioral health patients will have a hospital dedicated to their needs.”

“We will add services and collaborate with existing providers such that the spectrum of services and treatment in Columbus will allow patients to receive the right level of care at the right time to give patients the greatest chance for success,” said Kim Whitelock, SUN’s Chief Operating Officer.
