Matt Sotelo

Principal

Matt Sotelo joined Petra in 2013 during the launch of Petra Growth Fund III. He focuses on investments in healthcare services, primarily in multi-site provider models that are proven to improve access to care and/or remove costs from the healthcare system. Matt comes from several generations of physicians and, as such, he shares the philosophy that providing high quality care for patients is the number one goal of any healthcare business.

Previously, Matt worked at Marwit Capital, a private equity firm in Newport Beach, CA. Matt started his career at Houlihan Lokey, a Los Angeles-based investment banking firm. At Petra, Matt develops theses around attractive market niches in healthcare services, identifies potential platform opportunities within these target areas and recruits executive management and Board members to these opportunities. Once a deal becomes a Petra portfolio company, Matt works with company management to enable the growth of these investments and help position them for an eventual exit.

He currently serves as a director on the boards of ABS Kids, Centerline Healthcare Partners, Doctors of Physical Therapy, Etairos Health, American Vascular Associates and Support, Inc. as well as on the Quality, Compliance and Audit Committee for Three Oaks Hospice.

Matt holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
